SA Children’s Home, founded in 1808 as the Orphan House, is one of the oldest welfare institutions in South Africa. Today, it continues its long-standing legacy of care by providing a safe, stable and nurturing home for vulnerable children, currently supporting 44 boys and girls.
We are a place of safety for children who cannot remain in their family environments. Our home is built on care, consistency and dignity, ensuring that every child is supported emotionally, physically and educationally. We believe that each child deserves to feel safe, valued and loved.
Our work is centred on creating a stable and loving environment where children can heal from past experiences, grow in confidence and simply be children again. We provide structured daily routines, schooling support, emotional care and life skills development that help build a strong foundation for their future.
The children in our care come from diverse backgrounds and many have experienced trauma, neglect or difficult life circumstances. We recognise that every child’s story is unique, and we respond with individual care plans that focus on their wellbeing, development and long-term potential.
Beyond meeting their basic needs, we are committed to restoring hope. We believe that with the right support, every child can thrive, build resilience and work toward a brighter future filled with opportunity.
SA Children’s Home also depends on the generosity of partners, donors and the wider community. Their support makes it possible for us to continue providing a safe home and meaningful opportunities for the children in our care.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple and unwavering commitment: to care for children with compassion, consistency and love.
