About
Following the recent eviction from premises occupied for over ten years, Healing Wings Youth Centre and Purpose College have relocated. Schooling continues uninterrupted, and while the current facilities are adequate, our dream is to build a stand-alone school designed specifically for our learners’ needs, complete with modern technology, dedicated classrooms, and recreation facilities as well as the equipment needed to give our learners the best possible school experience whilst they continue their own recovery journey.
Purpose College was registered as an independent school with the Department of Education in 2013. It was established under the Healing Wings SA umbrella to ensure that young people in long-term residential treatment could continue with recognised, structured schooling.
Since its inception, the school has developed into a credible academic institution serving learners from Grades 4 to 12. It operates within recognised educational frameworks, including SACAI recognition for "Best Cohort Average - Independent Schools" and "Club 100% - 100% Pass Rate". These achievements are especially significant because they were earned by learners balancing academic demands with the difficult and courageous work of recovery.
As a registered NPO, Healing Wings South Africa offers funders and participants the added advantage of recognised donor support considerations, including potential donor tax benefits through Section 18A certification, Corporate Social Investment (CSI) alignment and relevant B-BBEE socio-economic development considerations, where applicable. This allows organisations to support a meaningful social cause whilst also aligning their contribution with broader compliance, impact and corporate responsibility objectives.
