About
Mother Touch Academy is a registered pre-school (ECD) situated in Diepsloot, Gauteng, caring for up to 100 vulnerable children.
Mother Touch Academy was born out of an urgent need to provide quality pre-school educational services to the impoverished community of Diepsloot. The school opened its doors in August 2009 with 30 children and has been growing ever since, today we have to cap the number of children at 100.
Mother Touch Academy is a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO 070-896), BEE Compliant and a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO 930037869); all financial donations are tax-deductible.
Our aim is to educate and develop vulnerable children from Diepsloot and the surrounding areas. We offer a quality pre-school education for children from the ages of 1 year up to 5 years (Grade R). Â Children are split into classes according to age and follow age-appropriate syllabuses from the Department of Basic Education (DBE). We ensure that all our pupils are given an excellent foundation in early learning to ensure they have an advantage when starting their formal schooling in Grade 1.
All children are fed 2 cooked, nutritious meals per day. We have a large vegetable garden where fresh vegetables are grown to help supplement our grocery bill. The school is open weekdays from 06h00 – 18h00, thus providing a safe place for working parents to leave their children.
We are registered with the Department of Education and the Department of Social Development and receive a small stipend, but rely very heavily on corporate and private funding to run the school. We employ an external bookkeeper and registered auditors who complete our Annual Financial Audits. Governance and transparency across all areas are of critical importance in retaining our Corporate and private sponsors.
For 16 years, Mother Touch Academy has provided a safe, happy and nurturing early learning environment where our little pupils can develop, grow and explore. Please help us continue and join us in making a difference in the lives of these children.
