Devon Vergne Foundation

The Devon Vergne Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting children with cancer through joy, care, and meaningful connection.

Devon Vergne Foundation was started in 2006 by Seonaid & Vernon after the passing of their son, Devon, to cancer. They were driven by the need to stay connected to people affected by children’s cancer, to initiate positive change where they could, and to honour the memory of Devon, who so bravely and with dignity fought his battle. Fast forward quite a few years and a whole lot of good has been done while lifting hope and changing lives along the way. The Foundation has gone from strength to strength and grown to include a board of directors & volunteers, whose main aim is: Making their treatment journey more bearable.

What we do in Public Hospitals - Paediatric Oncology Wards

Being optimistic and having a positive attitude can result in better treatment outcomes for cancer patients. We believe that happy spaces make the treatment process easier for the children, their caregivers, and other parties involved. The Devon Vergne Foundation takes a multi-faceted approach to implement this philosophy and provide children suffering from cancer with spaces and events that brighten their hospital stays and treatments, making their treatment journey more bearable.

Projects

We identify areas at paediatric oncology units where we can develop Devon’s Playland or communal areas.

Outreach and volunteer programmes

Our dedicated team regularly visits paediatric oncology units at various hospitals to help lift the patients’ spirits. We give patients a Devon Care Package, plan activities and entertainment, and share treats and drinks with patients, their families and healthcare workers.

Festive events

Celebrations can fall by the wayside when a child is undergoing cancer treatment. The Devon Vergne Foundation helps bring normality and joy by organising special events at paediatric oncology units for occasions like Easter or Christmas. From delicious treats to Christmas boxes to a Father Christmas to hand them out, we endeavour to make every patient feel special and cared for.
