About
Malachi Place of Safety was established in 2005 in Cape Town, South Africa by the Brummer family in response to the urgent need for a safe haven for abused and abandoned children. Since its inception, they have provided a loving and caring environment for over 160 children who have experienced trauma, aiming to restore their trust in adults and give them hope for the future.
With a strong commitment to providing a nurturing environment, Malachi Place of Safety has been instrumental in transforming the lives of countless vulnerable children. However, the organisation is facing financial challenges, and they are seeking support to ensure its continued success.
The organisation has been mostly funded from the Brummer family’s own income. Ruan, who served as a policeman in the South African Police Service’s Child Protection Unit for over 30 years, along with his wife, has opened their home and their pockets to support over 160 children in the last 18 years. Ruan retired in 2021, and since then, he has been financing Malachi Place of Safety from his own pension. However, this is not a long-term solution as his pension is dwindling.
