About Funda Kunye

Funda Kunye is a non-profit organisation committed to transforming Early Childhood Development (ECD) in the marginalised communities of Hout Bay, namely Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg. We believe that every child deserves access to quality early education, and we work to make this a reality by equipping ECD centres with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive.

Our Mission

To empower ECD principals and teachers through training, mentorship, and resources, enabling them to create safe, nurturing, and sustainable learning environments for young children.

Our Story

Funda Kunye was born out of a deep concern for the lack of support and resources in ECD centres serving vulnerable communities. We saw passionate principals and teachers struggling without guidance or infrastructure, and we knew something had to change. Through our four pillars — TRAIN, SUPPORT, EQUIP, and CONNECT — we provide practical solutions, build capacity, and foster collaboration, ensuring that the foundation of education is strong where it matters most: in the early years.
