Empowervate

Empowervate is a South African youth development organisation dedicated to empowering young people to become active citizens, ethical leaders, and social change-makers. Founded with the belief that young people are not the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today, Empowervate works in schools and communities to equip youth with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to create meaningful social impact. Its flagship initiative, the Youth Citizens Action Program (YCAP), is a structured, experiential learning programme that guides high school learners through a 10-step journey of active citizenship and social entrepreneurship. Through YCAP, students identify real challenges in their communities, research root causes, design innovative solutions, and implement practical action projects. The programme culminates in a showcase and recognition event where learners present their projects, reflect on their growth, and are celebrated for their leadership. YCAP places a strong emphasis on values-based leadership, critical thinking, collaboration, and civic responsibility. By combining education with action, Empowervate and YCAP help young people see themselves as capable agents of change, while fostering a generation of socially conscious, engaged citizens committed to building a more just, inclusive, and sustainable society.
