ABOUT BBOKAMOSO SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

BBOKAMOSO Skills Development Projects (BSDP) is a registered South African nonprofit organisation (NPO Registration Number: 228-623; PBO Reference Number: 930071634) committed to transforming poverty into opportunity through education, food security, youth empowerment, skills development, environmental sustainability, and community development.

Established in 2019 under the motto "Opening Doors Through Education," BBOKAMOSO was founded in response to the growing socio-economic challenges affecting children, youth, women, unemployed individuals, and vulnerable households in township communities. These challenges include poverty, unemployment, food insecurity, educational inequality, limited access to developmental opportunities, and social vulnerability.

Operating from eMpumalanga Primary School in Meadowlands, Soweto, BBOKAMOSO has evolved into a School-Based Community Development Hub that uses schools as platforms for integrated social, educational, environmental, and economic development. We believe that schools are more than places of learning—they are powerful community assets capable of driving sustainable transformation and creating opportunities for entire communities.

Our mission is to strengthen communities through education, skills development, food security, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, safeguarding, and strategic partnerships that create meaningful and lasting social impact. Our vision is to build empowered, resilient, and thriving communities where every child, young person, and family has access to opportunities that promote education, wellbeing, food security, skills development, and sustainable livelihoods.

Our work is built around five strategic pillars:

• Education and Early Childhood Development • Food Security and School Agriculture • Youth Skills Development, Leadership and Employability • Sports Development, Health and Wellbeing • Child Protection, Safeguarding and Community Resilience

Through these pillars, BBOKAMOSO implements practical community-driven programmes including school food gardens, agriculture education, literacy and library development, youth leadership programmes, employability support, entrepreneurship awareness, sports development, volunteer mobilisation, environmental initiatives, school improvement projects, and community outreach programmes.

Our beneficiaries include school learners, Grade R and Early Childhood Development children, unemployed youth, school dropouts, women, caregivers, parents, educators, community volunteers, and vulnerable households. Through our programmes, we directly support hundreds of learners and community members annually while creating wider benefits for thousands of families across Soweto and surrounding communities.

Despite operating with limited resources, BBOKAMOSO has successfully mobilised volunteers, established school-based food security initiatives, implemented skills development activities, and built partnerships with government departments, community stakeholders, and corporate partners. Most recently, the organisation secured support from First National Bank (FNB), which donated vegetable seedlings for our food garden programme and office furniture that enabled us to further support eMpumalanga Primary School.

As a SARS-approved Public Benefit Organisation with Section 18A status, BBOKAMOSO is committed to transparency, accountability, and measurable impact. We work collaboratively with schools, communities, government departments, businesses, foundations, and development partners to create sustainable solutions that improve lives and strengthen community resilience.

At BBOKAMOSO, we believe that education opens doors, food security builds dignity, skills create opportunity, and empowered communities transform futures.

Together, we are building stronger schools, stronger communities, and brighter futures for all.
