Vasco Special Needs Centre was born out of love, understanding, and a deep commitment to young adults with special needs. Established in 2016 in Vasco Estate, Cape Town, our Centre was founded by parents of children on the autism spectrum who knew firsthand the challenges and joys of this journey. Our journey begins with parents who know this path firsthand. VSN Centre was founded by families of young adults on the autism spectrum — parents who experienced the challenges, hopes, and dreams that come with raising a child with special needs. This personal connection shapes everything we do — from the way we greet each person in the morning to how we celebrate every achievement, big or small.

Fundraise
Since 2016, Vasco Special Needs Centre (VSNC) has been more than just a place — it has been a sanctuary for young adults with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. 💙 Our mission has always been simple yet powerful: to create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young adults can learn, grow, and thrive. Through skill development, crafting, life skills training, and community support, we help our young adults gain independence, confidence, and dignity. But today, we face our biggest challenge yet. The hall we currently occupy in Vasco Estate will no longer be available after December 2025, as our lease with the church will not be renewed. While the reasons remain unclear, one thing is certain: our young adults cannot lose the safe space they have come to call home. That’s why we are launching this urgent crowdfunding campaign. 🙏

Our Two Goals 🎯

1️⃣ Secure a Temporary Home (R200,000)

We need to raise a minimum of R200,000 to rent a property within the Vasco Estate area for at least one year. This will ensure that our young adults have a secure place to continue their daily programs without interruption from January 2026.

2️⃣ Purchase a Permanent Home (R2,000,000)

Our ultimate goal is to raise R2 million to purchase a property in Vasco Estate. This will give our Centre a permanent home — no more uncertainty, no more risk of losing our space.

This property will allow us to create:

🏠 3–4 dedicated workrooms for training and crafting 🍳 A large kitchen for life-skills and meal-preparation training 🛍️ A small shop to showcase and sell our handmade items 🌳 An outdoor space for physical activities and play 🔒 Secure premises that comply with safety regulations, equipped with CCTV and proper facilities

Why This Matters 💡

For our young adults and their families, VSNC is more than a Centre. It is:
  • A place of belonging, where they are seen, valued, and supported.
  • A place of learning, where they develop essential life and vocational skills.
  • A place of independence, where their abilities are nurtured and celebrated.
Without a home, their progress — and their future — is at risk.

How You Can Help ❤️

Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to securing a safe and permanent space for our young adults. Donate directly to our campaign. Share this appeal with your family, friends, and networks. Connect us with organisations or property owners who may be able to assist. Together, we can build not just a building, but a brighter, more secure future for our young adults. 🌟
