Scars Are Blessings Foundation
Mission:
To transform lives and break the cycle of poverty in Umlazi by empowering vulnerable children and families through education, nutrition, skills development, and community support.
Our Story:
Scars Are Blessings Foundation was born during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when we opened a feeding scheme to address the hunger crisis in Umlazi N Section. Witnessing the overwhelming need, we quickly realized that poverty was a deep-rooted issue requiring a broader response. From that moment, we expanded our efforts to launch multiple impactful programs.
Key Programs and Achievements:
- Feeding Scheme & Food Parcel Distribution: Providing daily meals and distributing thousands of food parcels to families in need.
- Sanitary Towel Initiative: Ensuring dignity and health for young girls by distributing sanitary products.
- Clothing Drives: Collecting and giving away clothes to vulnerable community members.
- Skills Development & Grass Cutting Program: Offering training and employment opportunities to youth, fostering self-reliance.
- Adopt a Child School Program (including Lunch Box Program): Sponsoring children’s education by providing uniforms, stationery, and nutritious meals, while tracking academic progress.
- Partnership with KZN Premier Thami Ntuli: Receiving numerous donations and support to amplify our reach and impact.
Today, Scars Are Blessings Foundation proudly serves all of Umlazi, supporting countless beneficiaries and continuing to grow our programs to build a brighter, empowered future for our community.
