W.A.S.P., which stands for Widowed and Single Parents, was founded in May 2018.
We are registered as a non-profit organisation with the Department of Social
Development.
We have been granted Section 18A tax status with SARS . Donors will receive a Donation certificate to be submitted with their income taxes. Wasp is BBBEE certified.
We had a yearning to give back to the community and wanted to make a difference. We provide hot meals, bread and water on a daily basis, clothing, medical supplies, vitamins and food hampers on a monthly basis to our five thousand nine hundred and seventy nine (5 979) identified recipients in Merebank, Wentworth, Bluff, Clairwood, Montclair, Yellowwood Park, Phoenix, Chatsworth, Isipingo, and Malukazi. Further, we have wellness days for the Seniors in the various areas and frail care facilities.
Our target market is single, divorced, widowed parents who have dependents, Senior Citizens, unemployed, homeless, people living in shelters, physically and mentally challenged, children’s and adults’ homes
We assist fifteen schools, twelve homes, and frail care facilities in and around Durban.
