About
MOFAGO is a grassroots initiative based in Johannesburg, South Africa, dedicated to restoring dignity through nourishing meals and essential care packages. Founded by Naomi Menyoko, MOFAGO brings warmth, compassion, and community to those experiencing homelessness and hardship.
Mission:
To serve wholesome meals and distribute care packages to the homeless and destitute on key days—Christmas, Easter Sunday, and South African Women’s Day—while fostering dignity, connection, and hope through volunteer-powered outreach.
Our Story:
MOFAGO is a SeTswana word meaning “giving someone a meal to take home.” That spirit of generosity is at the heart of everything we do. What began as a simple act of kindness—cooking and sharing a meal with those in need—has grown into a heartfelt tradition supported by friends, family, and long-time volunteers.
Every year, we prepare hearty lunches and distribute care packages that include toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and sanitary products. On Women’s Day, we also donate fleece blankets and hygiene kits to women’s shelters. Though not a registered organisation, MOFAGO is a movement of love and community, powered by everyday people who believe in the dignity of every person.
We raise funds through personal outreach—emails to friends, family, and former colleagues—and welcome support in any form: donations, supplies, or helping hands. MOFAGO is more than a meal. It’s a message: You are seen. You are valued. You are home.
