About
Living With Cancer South Africa (LWCSA) is a registered Non-Profit Organisation dedicated to uniting cancer patients, survivors, and their families in a safe, supportive, and collaborative community. As South Africa's first patient-led cancer registry, LWCSA collects and manages crucial data to improve cancer care protocols, treatment access and policy advocacy.
LWCSA was founded to address South Africa's urgent cancer care crisis, marked by under-resourced public oncology facilities, long treatment backlogs, and a fragmented, paper-based cancer registry. LWCSA empowers individuals to take control of their data while contributing to a national database that can influence policy, funding allocation, and treatment improvement (LWCSA Constitution, 2025).
Our work is guided by principles of transparency, ethical governance and collaboration with key stakeholders including the National Cancer Registry (NCR), Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), and a network of medical, advocacy and corporate partners.
