🌈 Little Angels Home Profile

📖 Our Journey

  • Founded in May 2005 with one child as a day resident.
  • Expanded in December 2005 into a Residential Care Facility.
  • Today, we provide a loving home for 17 children.
  • Licensed and partially funded by the Western Cape Department of Health.
  • Registered as an NPO with the Department of Social Development.

💙 Our Children

  • Most children are placed with us through court orders, as families are unable or unwilling to provide care.
  • Many arrive abandoned, making Little Angels their true family.
  • All children are severe to profoundly disabled, both physically and intellectually.
  • Common conditions: Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy.
  • All are wheelchair-bound and fully dependent on caregivers.

Daily care includes:

  • Bathing, dressing, feeding, and nappy changes.
  • Six children require PEG tube feeding (enteral nutrition directly into the stomach).

📚 Education & Stimulation

  • Schooling Programme (Mon–Fri): Developed by the LSPID Team in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education.
  • Ensures intellectual stimulation and opportunities to “learn” according to each child’s abilities.
  • Therapeutic Stimulation: Daily in-house activities to prevent further physical disabilities caused by muscle stiffness and contractures.

🏥 Medical Care

  • Primary care at Helderberg Hospital.
  • Specialist appointments at Tygerberg Hospital and Red Cross Children’s War Memorial Hospital.
  • Wheelchairs and buggies supplied through these hospitals.
