About
Lanseria Ferals, founded in March 2019, is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 301-357) that are currently providing food, shelter and medical care for over 200 ferals at multiple colonies throughout various areas including Lanseria, Muldersdrift, North Riding, Fourways, Bryanston and Windsor. We are not a shelter. We do not remove or relocate feral colonies. We rescue, rehabilitate and re-home feral born kittens. The organisation is run entirely by volunteers who offer their time and care free of charge.
ABOUT
Over the past 5 years Lanseria Ferals have assisted with numerous TNR projects. Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a safe, humane and the ONLY proven solution to manage feral cat populations. This process involves setting up feeding stations in the area and then humanely trapping (with proper equipment), sterilising (spay females and neuter males at a vet), deworming and vaccinating against rabies, ear tipping (to mark they are sterilised) and returning the cats to their outdoor home where they can live out their life. In the long term, TNR has proven to lower feral cat numbers more effectively. Euthanasia only aggravates the problem and actually produces worse results than doing nothing at all.
Our aim is to sterilise as many feral cats as possible through our TNR programme. This ensures that colonies do not breed out of control and that kittens are not born into a life of misery and suffering. Your support fuels our mission to sterilise, feed, foster, and provide medical care for ferals and strays. With your help, we can continue our vital work in safeguarding these vulnerable animals.
DONATIONS
We are currently feeding over 200 feral cats and are continuously growing. Your support goes beyond just providing food and supplements. It enables us to carry out crucial initiatives that have a lasting impact on the welfare of these animals. Sterilisation is one of the most effective ways to control the feral cat population.
By spaying or neutering these cats, we prevent the birth of countless kittens who would otherwise face lives of struggle and suffering on the streets. Your donations contribute directly to funding these sterilisation efforts, helping to reduce the number of homeless cats in our community and alleviate the strain on already overcrowded shelters.
The health and well-being of our ferals depend on access to proper medical care. From treating injuries and illnesses to providing preventative care such as vaccinations and deworming, every aspect of their health is important to us. The supplements we add to their food, such as Felivit, Protexin, and Diatomaceous earth, play a crucial role in maintaining their overall health and resilience against common ailments.
Your generosity sustains our operations. Every donation, no matter the size, plays a significant role in keeping our furry companions nourished and healthy.
