EPIC Foundation – Company Profile
Overview
The EPIC Foundation is a registered non-profit organization based in Gauteng, founded in 2013 by Alta McMaster. Alta’s own journey of overcoming trauma, including surviving rape, inspired her to dedicate her life to empowering survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), human trafficking, and related crimes. Her story of resilience and transformation is shared on our website:

Our Work
Since 2013, EPIC Foundation has supported survivors of GBV through our flagship
Comfort Pack Project, which has reached more than 60,000 individuals. These packs provide essential toiletries and clothing items to survivors during the reporting process at police stations, hospitals, and crisis centers, or when entering shelters. In 2025 alone, we distributed 7,010 packs.
While the Comfort Pack Project remains central to our mission, we have expanded our services to include:
- Counseling referrals and support groups
- Legal advice and court preparation referrals
- Education and awareness campaigns
- Motivational talks and skills development (Step-Up Project)
- Fairy Godmother Project, which outfits matric students for their farewell dances (555 assisted in 2025)
- Charities4Change, a networking platform connecting over 120 nonprofits to strengthen collaboration and impact
