About
EARS Donkey Sanctuary rescues abused, abandoned and retired donkeys, many of whom were working donkeys, from farms and villages in Greyton, Genadendal and surrounds. Our Sanctuary is managed by experienced equine inspector Penny James and three grooms and supported by four volunteers who fund raise and market the organisation. Â Our donkeys are well socialised and super friendly, especially with children, and we are open to visitors free of charge 7 days a week; visits by appointment only via WhatsApp on 082 660 6714. Our Sanctuary is financially supported by the EARS Charity Shop run by volunteers in the village of Greyton. We also run a donkey 'adoption' programme where supporters can sponsor a donkey for a year for a fee of R1200. Adopters receive a personalised adoption certificate and regular updates on their donkey plus the EARS quarterly newsletter.
