About
Founded in 1872, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA is the oldest animal welfare organisation in South Africa. With a mission to prevent cruelty and promote the welfare of all animals, the SPCA provides rescue, veterinary care, shelter, and advocacy services across a vast 3,200 km² service area. Our dedicated Inspectorate responds to thousands of cruelty complaints each year, rescues animals in distress, and enforces animal protection laws. The organisation receives no government funding for our work and relies solely on the generosity of the public to keep our vehicles on the road and our team saving lives.
