About
Brittle Bones SA is a South African nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), commonly known as brittle bone disease. OI is a rare genetic condition that causes fragile bones, frequent fractures, and long-term physical and emotional challenges. Many families face isolation, limited access to information, and significant financial strain due to ongoing medical needs.
Our mission is to improve quality of life through awareness, advocacy, education, and practical support. We provide emotional guidance to caregivers, connect families to trusted resources, and create safe spaces for shared experiences and peer support. Brittle Bones SA also works to raise public and medical awareness around rare bone conditions, helping to promote earlier diagnosis, better care, and inclusion.
Through partnerships with healthcare professionals, community organisations, and donors, we strive to build a sustainable support network that empowers families rather than leaving them to cope alone. We believe that no one living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta should feel invisible or unsupported.
By registering with The Helpers, we hope to connect with compassionate individuals and organisations who share our commitment to dignity, collaboration, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by brittle bone conditions across South Africa.
