About Benjamin Projects
Benjamin Projects is a registered South African non‑profit organisation (NPO 262‑082) dedicated to empowering young people through mentorship and sport, with a particular focus on cricket. Founded officially in 2021 but active in the South Peninsula region of Cape Town since 2014, we believe in fostering holistic development — socially, emotionally, educationally, and economically — so young people can grow into confident, capable members of their families and communities.
Our work is rooted in strong, sustainable relationships with children, their families, schools, and communities. We deliver programmes across four key pillars: individual youth mentorship, sports development (especially cricket), coach development, and community upliftment through food security and nutrition support.
At the heart of our mission is Mentorship 8‑one‑8, a sporting and academic mentorship programme supporting boys from ages 8–18, walking alongside them from primary school through high school and helping with everything from emotional support and life skills to school resources, tutoring, and assistance with scholarship and high‑school applications.
Our Cricket with Character programme uses cricket as a vehicle for teaching life skills, teamwork, discipline, and leadership, while strengthening school sports participation. Through after‑school activities and school holiday cricket clinics, we provide structured coaching and match opportunities, with the goal of expanding cricket access to schools and young people in under‑resourced communities.
We also run after‑school programmes that support academic and personal growth, coordinate stationery and uniform drives at the start of the school year, and provide essential food security hampers to families in need, helping relieve some of the daily pressures faced in marginalised areas.
Benjamin Projects is built on compassion and commitment — focusing on one child, one moment, one life at a time — and driven by the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive both on and off the field.
