Can’t Find Your Category? Let’s Build It Together
Can’t find the right category for your organisation? The Helpers is growing, and we’d love your help shaping it.
South Africa (30 January 2026) – The Helpers was built to make it easier for people to find organisations doing good across South Africa. One of the most important ways we do that is through categories. They help users search by cause, understand what organisations do and connect with the right kind of support.
We’ve worked hard to create a wide and thoughtful list of charity and community categories. But here’s the honest truth: no list is ever finished.
South Africa’s charitable landscape is diverse, layered and constantly evolving. New initiatives emerge, grassroots projects grow in unexpected ways, and organisations often do work that doesn’t fit neatly into a single box.
If you’re registering your organisation on The Helpers and can’t find a category that truly reflects what you do, we want to hear from you.
The Helpers is a user-driven platform, which means it improves when the people using it help shape it. If your work feels underrepresented or if you offer a service that doesn’t quite match our existing categories, reaching out helps us build a directory that is more accurate, inclusive and useful for everyone.
Adding new categories isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about making sure people searching for help can actually find the right organisations, and that your work is visible in the way it deserves to be.
If you think a category is missing, too broad or needs refining, email us at admin@thehelpers.co.za with a short description of what you do and how you think it should be categorised. Our team will review suggestions and continue to expand the list as the platform grows.
The Helpers is not static. It’s a living, growing space built with the people doing the work.
And sometimes the best way to help is to help us build it better.
