Bellville Cats Royalty

Bellville Cats Royalty believes in "Fix What You Feed", all our cats are sterilised, and we ensure that we sterilise new royalties in our feeding programme that make their way to our colonies. We feed +-20 cats daily in our feeding plan. Our cats are in Bellville and Langa Township, they aren’t random cats in the street, they all have names and are cared for like they have a home. We rely on donations to feed the cats.

Bellville Cats Royalty was established after COVID, seeing the sad state of the many cats roaming the streets of Bellville, around the taxi rank, the train station, the shops, the spazas and the scrap yards, a need was seen to help the cats as there were also many kittens dying from the streets and humans killing them. The cats were crossing dangerous streets, being killed by cars while looking for food. If they were at least fed, they would stay in one place, which they did after they were being intentionally fed. Feral Cat Project Cape Town stepped in after a plea to sterilise on Facebook by the individual who saw the need to help the cats and feed them, because the main issue was to first sterilise the cats, then start a proper feeding programme and care. Over a period of a month Feral Project Cape Town assisted with sterilising a number of cats that were regulars in the areas mentioned, kittens were taken for adoption by good organisations and found homes. Over the years since 2022, Bellville Cats Royalty, with the help of Feral Cat Project Cape Town and other sterilising organisations, has sterilised over fifteen cats, homed moms born in the Bellville streets and their babies and continues feeding the cats around Bellville. Donations are what keep cats fed, as we rely on good-hearted people who donate food or donate funds for buying the food. We name all the cats we feed and sterilise. Bellville Cats Royalty doesn’t just feed the cats food, we give deworming, feed vitamin pills, monitor our cats, those whose health is deteriorating and do our best to get them well if we can, as most of them are sick due to outside life and not having proper meals. We also educate and make individuals aware that the cats aren’t harmful and have some people around the streets of Bellville helping look out for the cats with simple acts like giving them water on a hot day and watching out for those who want to harm them.
