Harties Feral Cat Rescue is a volunteer-driven, community-based animal welfare organisation dedicated to improving the lives of feral, abandoned, and unwanted cats in Hartbeespoort and the surrounding areas, including Brits, Mooinooi, Marikana, and beyond.
Our core focus is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)—the only humane and effective long-term solution to managing feral cat populations. Through TNR, cats are humanely trapped, sterilised, vaccinated where possible, and returned to their colonies, where they can live out their lives without breeding, fighting, or contributing to overpopulation. In addition to sterilisation, we provide ongoing colony support, including feeding assistance, monitoring, parasite control, and medical intervention for sick or injured cats.
Where cats or kittens are social, abandoned, or at risk, Harties Feral Cat Rescue places them into loving foster homes. From there, we follow a strict and responsible adoption process that includes home checks, adoption contracts, sterilisation requirements, and follow-up support to ensure lifelong, safe placements.
We work closely with local veterinarians, feeders, landowners, businesses, and other welfare organisations, and place strong emphasis on education and community engagement to promote compassion and coexistence.
Run entirely by volunteers and funded through donations and sponsorships, Harties Feral Cat Rescue is committed to dignity, kindness, and sustainable solutions—because every cat matters, whether feral or friendly.
