About
The Vervet Monkey Foundation offers sanctuary and rehabilitation for over 600 primates who are orphaned, injured, abused, or unwanted. Established in 1989, the Foundation addresses the dire need for a safe haven for Vervet monkeys in South Africa, advocating against their classification as vermin. We provide programs for rehabilitating injured primates, researching co-existence solutions, and educating the public about the ecological importance of vervet monkeys. Our sanctuary also supports non-releasable primates, allowing them to live fulfilling lives as ambassadors for their species. Volunteers, vet nurses, and gap year students can engage in conservation efforts, studying the lifestyle of these unique primates while promoting a vegan lifestyle to combat environmental issues. Notably, the Foundation operates on 80% solar power, underscoring our commitment to sustainable living. Through innovative rehabilitation techniques and comprehensive care, we have positively impacted the lives of over 600 vervet monkeys, paving the way for future conservation efforts and a deeper understanding of this fascinating species.
