About
The African Women’s Empowerment Foundation (TAWEF) is a South African nonprofit organisation committed to advancing the social and economic empowerment of women and girls, with a particular focus on underserved and rural communities.
TAWEF works to address barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potential, including limited access to skills, education, economic opportunities, resources, and support networks. Through community-based programmes, we aim to equip women with practical skills, knowledge, confidence, and opportunities that can contribute to sustainable livelihoods and stronger communities.
Our work focuses on areas such as women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship and skills development, education and mentorship, access to opportunities, community development, and initiatives that promote the wellbeing and dignity of women and girls.
We believe that empowering women creates a positive ripple effect across families and communities. By investing in women’s potential and creating pathways to independence, TAWEF seeks to contribute to inclusive communities where women can participate meaningfully in social and economic development.
TAWEF works collaboratively with communities, partners, donors, businesses, government institutions, and other organisations to develop practical and sustainable initiatives that respond to the needs of the women and communities we serve.
Our vision is a future where every woman and girl has the opportunity, resources, skills, and confidence to build a better life and contribute to the development of her community.
