About
Our ministry is to provide for and feed the poor.
We are a non-profit organisation 220-327 NPO with the Department of Social Development and with SARS as a Public Benefit Organisation Ref SARS PBO ref 930069738.
We are located on the premises of the Bellville Presbyterian Church in Boston, Bellville.
We are a small church with a big heart and have lots of compassion and empathy for those in need.
In 2011, we received a generous donation earmarked for an industrial kitchen to prepare meals for the poor. The kitchen is equipped with a walk-in cold room, a gas cooker, deep freezers, etc.
As a church, we have always supported the less fortunate with clothing and meals.
On Christmas day we supply a meal to +/- 300 people. These people also receive a gift bag with items like tissues, soap, toothbrush, tooth paste, toilet paper, socks, face cloth, some edibles and a few other items.
Early 2014 Grace Kitchen Ministry came into existence.
We supply meals on a daily basis totaling between 10 000 and 12Â 000 meals per month.
These meals are provided to Ambassadors – a community based in Delft, Sarepta Primary School, Bellville South Police Station Trauma Room, MES Safe Space, Ligstad and Wynstok and then a number of meals given out to a group of people who collect a meal from our premises, predominantly in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town
We follow strict health and safety rules to ensure the safety of those receiving these meals.
We have no assistance from government and currently rely heavily on goodwill of people who donate money, vegetables, meat and other grocery items.
We also organise fundraising events and provide for funeral teas.
We have been accepted by Woolworth’s as part of the My School Card and encourage friends and members to add us as a beneficiary to their Woolworth’s cards as well as members of the FoodForward Food insecurity initiative.
We have an extremely efficient kitchen manager – Chantal de Wee.
Our kitchen staff consist of Chantal and Flora who are permanent staff together with 14 volunteers. We need your help through food collection, donations of any food produce fresh fruit, veg, meats, bakery, deli and preserved tins etc. Also any monetary or volunteering of time donations in the form of kitchen assistance are also very welcome. Any potential Networking oppoertunities will also be investigated for viability
We are only limited to growth of our Ministry by our ability to secure the ingredients, our operational costs and cover the 2 permanent staff we currently employ. All other activities are supported via volunteers as well as a committee and Fiuciary officers.
Please dfeel free to reach out if you can assist in any way to help us to strive to feed those that have not enjoyed a single meal today
