What to Expect Once You Are Part of The Helpers Community

Learn what to expect after joining The Helpers and how to make the most of your charity profile and opportunities.

South Africa (18 May 2026) – Registering on The Helpers is often a moment of quiet achievement. It marks a step forward, a decision to be seen, and an invitation for others to discover the work you are doing. But what happens after that first step is where the real opportunity begins.

Visibility does not happen automatically. It grows through how you show up, how you share your story, and how you invite people into your work. The Helpers provides the platform, but each organisation brings it to life through its presence.

The first and most important step is your profile. This is more than a listing; it is your introduction to potential supporters. A clear description of your work, strong images, and an updated wish list all help people understand who you are and how they can get involved. The more complete and current your profile is, the easier it is for someone to connect with your cause. Remember, you can keep updating it as your needs shift and change.

Once you are live, the next phase is engagement. Share your profile across your own networks, whether through social media, newsletters, or community groups. The more people who know you are part of The Helpers, the more likely they are to visit, share, and support your work.

We are doing the same, we are currently sharing a monthly article about one of the registered organisations (with plans to ramp this up to weekly so we can cover more of these heroes – so stay tuned!) and a weekly shout-out on our social media, selecting a new charity every week.

Oh, and the best part of all… The Helpers is managed by Good Things Guy, South Africa’s leading good news website, so the team are encouraged to scope the Helpers when looking for good things to share as well, adding an even bigger voice to this growing movement.

So, consistency plays a powerful role here. Updating your profile regularly, adding new needs, and sharing progress keeps your organisation active and visible. It also shows potential supporters that your work is ongoing and responsive to real needs.

Practical steps can make a noticeable difference. Keep your contact details current, respond to enquiries promptly (we are seeing this pick up each week, which is so exciting!), and make it easy for people to understand how they can help. Whether it is donations, volunteering, or sharing your work, clarity invites action.

It is important to remember that growth takes time. Being listed is not a quick fix, but rather a foundation. The organisations that benefit most are those that remain active, intentional, and open to engagement.

Registering on The Helpers is the beginning of a wider journey. It is a step into visibility, into community, and into the possibility of new support. With consistency, clarity, and a willingness to share your story, that single step can grow into something far more impactful than expected.

The Helpers is a growing space built on connection, care and the belief that help should never be hard to find. It exists to link people who need support with organisations doing the work, and to guide those who want to help towards causes that matter most to them.
This platform is proudly powered by Good Things Guy, a community that has spent the last decade sharing stories of hope, resilience, and the everyday heroes quietly making South Africa a better place.
The Helpers is sponsored by Druff Interactive, whose support and belief helped turn a much-needed idea into a platform designed to genuinely make a difference.
If you have questions, suggestions, organisations to recommend or simply want to get in touch, you’re always welcome to reach the team at admin@thehelpers.co.za.
