Did you know that the NSPCA covers an estimated 68% of South Africa where no other SPCA exists - protecting every animal, everywhere? Operating nationally, our dedicated Inspectors work in specialised units tackling specific animal welfare challenges – investigating and prosecuting cruelty, providing education, upliftment, and primary animal healthcare. As a statutory body governed by the SPCA Act 169 of 1993, and backed by a landmark 2016 Constitutional Court ruling granting us private prosecution powers, we are uniquely positioned to serve and protect all animals under South African law. Though we cover a vast national footprint, standing up for innocent lives through enforcement and advocacy, we receive no government funding.
