Community Development
  • Early Childhood Development (ECD) & Education - Supporting our ECD centre with: Providing daily meals and care packs to our learners and their families. Learning and play resources (books, puzzles, educational toys, stationery). Basic classroom equipment (mats, tables, chairs, storage). Hygiene items and cleaning materials to keep our centre safe and clean. Creating safe, stimulating environments where young children can learn through play. Partnering with teachers and caregivers to encourage early literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Food Security & Nutrition - Providing food parcels to families in need, with a special focus on: Single mothers and their children. Families with no or very low income. Responding to urgent referrals from SAPS, Community Police Forums, schools and other outreach organisations. Supporting our ECD centre with nutrition items for children, helping to ensure that they receive at least two nutritious meals a day.
  • Community Outreach & Relief - Regular community outreaches providing: Clothing, blankets, and essential hygiene products. Gift packs for children during special seasons (e.g. Christmas). Coordinating emergency relief in times of crisis. Partnering with churches, local businesses, schools, and other NPOs to stretch resources further and reach more families.
  • Ikhaya Lethemba - House of Hope - Ikhaya Lethemba is Compass’s safe haven for single mothers and their children. The House of Hope provides: Temporary shelter and protection for mothers in crisis. A safe, stabilising environment where families can regroup and rebuild their lives. Access to essentials (food, clothing, hygiene items) and support services. The aim is to restore dignity, emotional well-being, and hope during some of the most difficult moments of a mother’s life.
  • Women’s Support & Advocacy  - Standing alongside women who have experienced gender-based violence by: Offering practical support where possible (food, clothing, essentials). Linking women and children to appropriate professional services and safe channels.
  • Dignity & Wellbeing Projects - Supporting women and girls with dignity packs (sanitary products, basic toiletries). Providing school uniforms and proper shoes helps restore dignity and confidence in children. Access to these essentials ensures that no child is held back or singled out because of their circumstances, allowing them to walk with pride and embrace their educational journey.
  • Community & Partnerships - Compass believes in working with the community, not just in it. We collaborate with schools, ECD centres, SAPS, CPF, clinics, local businesses, churches and other NPO/NGO's. Encourage volunteers to get involved through packing days, outreach events, skills sharing and fundraising. Rely on the generosity of donors and sponsors whose financial support, goods in kind, and services enable us to keep serving those who need it most.
  • Why COMPASS Matters - Every intervention—from a food parcel to a safe night’s rest—brings us closer to a community where: Children are safe - Women are supported and empowered - Families know they are not alone.
